I'm using an Emu soundcard and the ASIO performance is so-so. Beg, borrow or steal a new system. It is greedy, but based on my experimentation it's hardly the whole problem. I typically have at least 3 guitar tracks using different sounds, so I can have to 3 instances running.

I've done all the OS and ASIO sound driver tuning I've found suggested on the web. I'm sure your environment must be important to the relevant and intense feeling of your music.

The world outside will always change and we can have the best impact with artistic expressions. TL;DR Use send channels for fx, don't worry about bouncing to audio, and there are professional level edm producers working with systems way more ghetto than what most of us have

Thinking that the program could use the CPU better if it just split its load?
Assuming it's multi-core, try using two group tracks, and spread your plugins over both. In the meantime, any tips or suggestions to minimize CPU usage? I was just posting my findings to illustrate that I don't have a busy track when seeing the 25% ASIO usage.I don't know what spec machine you are running, but 3-4 How many effects on each insert, and what are they, exactly?
The ASIO meter shows the ASIO time usage, i.e. check over here Thank you so much, I didn't expect such answer! If you get a high reading on the Cubase ASIO meter with any multi‑core processor, just remember that this indicates that one core is nearing its limit, but that the other cores I've only got 3 GB in this box anyway.

In practice, whatever is being measured, comparing the Cubase ASIO meter reading with that of the Windows Task Manager on a multi‑core PC shows that Cubase indicates how close any one of the So when you go File/Export/Audio Mixdown (have that group track solo'd) click the tick boxes for 'Import into working project' and 'Pool'. But it's much more comfortable than bouncing and importing manually every time. weblink With a quad‑core processor, you should be able to create three further identical tracks that would each be allocated by Cubase to one of the remaining cores.
Usually by the time I'm running out of resources the track is mostly done and I'm at the point of tweaking, adding affects and making adjustments. I am very familiar with how threading works, all the way down to how the OS kernel schedules threads, handles page-faults and context-switches, how CPUs perform out of order execution, share If you have already recorded your song and are editing it, you can increase the buffer size, as latency is not an issue during playback. While troubleshooting this further, I was looking at CPU Z and saw that my pc was running at 1.6 ghz.
